The Merchant Navy War Memorial Plaque can be found on the stone wall, to the seaward side of the 6 June 1944 D Day Museum main entrance, near where the National flagposts are situated.

This plaque was funded by the Normandy Merchant Navy Memorial Trust, in Remembrance of the Merchant Navy sailors who paid the supreme sacrifice manning the merchant ships that landed the Army and their supplies in "Operation Neptune" the Normandy Landings 1944. This was phase one of the "Liberation of Europe".

Dover Merchant Navy War Memorial, Kent England.
Located in Marine Parade Gardens, Marine Parade, Dover. Funded by Dover & District Merchant Navy Memorial Fund in Remembrance of the Merchant Navy sailors in the Second World War (1939 to 1945) who paid the supreme sacrifice in service to their Country. They have no headstone, their grave is the sea.
